Bombs Away

Spent a pleasant afternoon at a friend's place, where we were supposed to study for our research project. Instead, we spent almost 2 hours on lunch, 2 hours in the pool and half an hour doing some work. I must say that the half hour was a solid half hour (even if it was peppered with M&M's).

I had a really good time. The highlight of it was the food, which was fabulous (the host went to great lengths to ensure we were well fed) and the pool.

The lovely pool - see the wall there? You can actually stand on top of it and jump into the pool. Except I stood on the lower wall and did it because I was too scared to do it from the top. Even the lower wall took me a good half an hour to work up my courage. Yes, I am a wuss.

Me and Maximus - my friend's Burmese cat. He is like all cats are - aloof.

Food - Table all set on the deck the deck. For a moment, we could believe that we were living the high life, instead of our actual dental student lives.

Salad - Some combination of various things.

Main - Steak with mashed potatoes a side of salad.

Dessert - Ice cream with fruit salad.

I love life after exams!

It's A Small World... 2

I went out for a friend's surprise birthday party last weekend.

Friends brought friends who brought their friends.

Ended up talking to one of the said friend's friend's friend.

Him: So let me guess, you're...Singaporean.
Me: Nope.
Him: Fine...you're from Hong Kong.
Me: Nope.
Him: Argh! I don't know - tell me.
Me: I'm Malaysian.
Him: Hey, me too. I still have family back there.
Me: Which part.
Him: Johor.
Me: Hey, me too!! Which part of Johor?
Him: Batu Pahat.
Me: ...omg!!!!!! Me TOO!!!!!!!!

So turns out he is my secondary school friend's cousin.

This is the second time I've met cousins of people I know from back home.

iPod

My iPod has finally died on me. Well, not died - but the battery lasts a grand total of 20 minutes.

I'm considering getting a Nano this time rather than the classic one - after all, one can only listen to so many songs on one trip to anywhere.

Thing is - I don't know what to engrave or which color.

Hmmm hmm hmmm.....

I feel like I have nothing to say these days.

Everytime I try to say something, all I draw up is a blank.

Been participating in many festivities though - but it's all ending when we go back to uni tomorrow.

Truthfully

There are many types of drunks.

Angry drunks. Silly drunks. Depressed drunks. Slutty drunks.

Guess what type of drunk I am?

The bare your soul type of drunk.

It's not that I forget everything that I say. It's not that I drink that much - 2 or 3 drinks is enough to set me off. I remember every single thing I say - but I can't seem to just shut up.

Sigh... the humiliation.

Bliss

Just got back from the holiday. It was a blast. Photos when other people put it onto Facebook and I move it here. Heh.

Currently drowning myself in TV.

Life is good.

Life is Half Good

Now that all the heavy exams are over, there is only one hurdle left in my life between me and la dolce vita. Celeberated by going out the entire day yesterday and just doing nothing. However, dentistry is a cunning thing. It sneaks up on you in various places.

Turns out there's actually a Dentist Play Doh Set. Found it on Amazon and we criticized it soundly for its incorrect anatomyas well as the encouragement of a drill, fill or extract attitude as opposed to preventive dentistry.

Then when we turned on the television there was a full feature on a person afflicted with fibrous dysplasia.

I guess we can't escape from it.

French Manicures

Seeing that clinics are starting soon and we're not allowed to paint our nails for that, I'm now into French manicures, which will hide the fact that I have been painting my nails... kind of.

Still trying to get the line right - very tricky.

Manicurists must have really steady hands and patience.

Waiting for nail polish to dry is the most boring thing in the world.

Wishful Thinking

I woke up and walked over to the kitchen to get a drink of water.

My housemate showed me a dress she had bought for her daughter. "It's for her 7th birthday! Isn't it nice?"

"You daughter is 7 already?"

My housemate looked at me strangely. "Yes, have you forgotten?"

"How old are we exactly?"

"28."

"WHAT?"

"Dental Girl, what is wrong with you?"

"Am I a dentist already???"

"Yes Dental Girl, you are a dentist. What's wrong with you today?"

"OMG, I must have somehow skipped past the horrifying end of 4th and 5th year of dentistry! I have no memory of it! WOOHOOO!!!"

And then I woke up.

Rats.

Knots

When I sit around with nothing to do, I'll absent-mindedly start playing with my hair. Specifically, I'll either start braiding it or tie multiple knots in them and watch it unravel.

I've been doing it for at least a couple of years but the strange thing is that people have only noticed me doing it very recently.

I've also declared war against the numerous blackheads on my nose. They've been around since I was young and have yet to decide to leave. Does anyone have any magic tricks up their sleeves on this?

When I'm bored, I also paint my nails as I slowly memorize the many histopathological features of OKC.

And I actually everted my lip and tried to check my hydration levels when I was studying about saliva testing.

Yup - I have a very sad life.

Farmer Wants A Wife

So I admit that I really enjoy watching Farmer Wants A Wife.

Cut me some slack - I need to have some form of outlet in my life.

On another note, 2 papers are over, leaving me with only 4 to go.

These exams are really taking a toll on everyone. Everyone at exams are pasty colored, traumatised and longing for death.

I usually have a celebratory shopping spree but this year, I am going to Sorrento (Victoria. Not Italy. I wish!) with all the other poor tortured dental souls who deserve a holiday after all we've been through.

Incidentally, I've gained at least 3kg over this exam period. Depressed.

Blank

Just spent the whole night reading blogs, reading skincare articles, downloading new music, staring at the blemishes on my face, plucking my eyebrows and just plain doing nothing.

Did I mention I have another killer written paper coming up...tomorrow? (seeing it's past midnight now)

*laughing hysterically*

Simple Pleasures

So here I am studying Orthodontics at 2am in the morning.

Except I can't really focus because every 5 minutes a group of people in some other apartment are cheering for some team for some soccer match.

Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore I heard an anonymous person shout, "Shut up!!!!! Shut the f*ck up!!!"

And they did.

Dental Girl loves when someone else does the job.

:D
