My New Toy

Went grocery shopping in Coles and a steamer caught my eye.

Price? 15 bucks.

Decided to risk it blowing up in my face and bought it.

Love love love it!! Excuse me while I go off and enjoy my steamed egg now.

Cake Plate

We drove down the main street of Shepparton and I saw a store called "Provincial Living". It struck my fancy and on one of the days when our clinic was cancelled, I forced my friend who was the driver to stop there for a while.

Went in and promptly fell in love with a cake plate on display. Only problem was that the price was outrageous. I refused to cough up the money and decided that I would come back to the city and look for a cheaper alternative.

However, things never work that way for Dental Girl. I came back to the city still lusting after that cake plate and could find no cake plate in the city that had any form etched decorations at the sides of the dome. One could almost say it was the one. In the end I gave in, dragged myself to the Provincial Living in Nunawading, coughed up and came back all smiles.

Told the shopkeeper that it was a gift. Which is not a lie. Me to me presents are still presents and deserve gift wrapping!

Out of the wrapping, onto the table.
Etched glass - the way I could not find anywhere in Melbourne city for love or money.
Promptly baked  a batch of cupcakes so that I could see how my baked goods would look in it.

Bliss.

The Quest For The Perfect Pen

I tend not to devote whole posts to what I have been purchasing but this is something that I feel is worth talking about - especially for other girls who are stuck in the same boat.

After a couple of years of lusting after the LV Agenda, I finally decided that buying it would be the only way to get over it. Happy ending?

Not so simple.

I discovered, like so many others before me, that LV has their own agenda. The pen holder is tiny. So tiny that in fact, the only pen that seemed to fit into it is by...LV.

Refusing to shell out another AUD200 or whatever the asking price was for that pen that didn't even look that great, I found a mechanical pencil from Borders that fit the holder for AUD6. However, I always knew that one day I'd get the pen.

The opportunity arose when I misplaced that pencil at Knox. I concluded that losing the pencil was a sign that it was time to move on and get the definitive pen to go with my agenda.

After a couple of weeks, I went to Tiffany, firmly telling myself that it was the place that I would find the pen that I've been seeking. I duly fell in love with a pink pen on display. Only problem was that the experience was reminiscent of Cinderella's stepsister trying to squeeze her too-big foot into the too-small glass slipper, only in this case it was a too-big pen into a too-small holder.

Devastation.

Decided to give the issue a rest and used some other pen I had for the time being, all the while knowing that that was the pen I wanted.

Today I went to Tiffany, requested to see the pink pen again and slipped it into the ring.

I have not used that holder since the last time I tried to stuff it in and failed.

Conclusion? I made it happen, and it was destiny.

Feel free to write me off as crazy.

A present from me to ...what...me?! *gasp* I shouldn't have!

My pink pen in my red agenda. Bliss.

Okay, fine. I'm sure other people with LV agendas will be able to put this Tiffany pen into their agenda at first try. I just like to dramatise my life. Other pens that fit include a couple other Tiffany ones (both signature Tiffany Blue in colour), a AUD500 sterling silver Hermes one (comes with a chain to chain it to your agenda so that you don't lose it) and LV's own range (of course).

Tea For One

I bought this a couple of weeks ago:

I love it because it serves exactly 3 cups of tea, which takes me exactly 40 minutes to consume.

Been buying heaps of tea to feed into my new interest. I know that loose tea leaves are meant to be better etc, but I can't resist buying teabags! They're just so much more convenient and the packaging is just so much more appealing.

Current favourite flavours include Twinings Lady Grey and Prince of Wales.

Back Home

After 5 days of shopping I am finally home.

Didn't really buy much.

The sleeves were too long, the colors weren't nice, the cut wasn't good, the leather was scratchable etc etc.

I think I'm becoming a fussy old woman prematurely.

Sunglasses

I have a self-confessed addiction - I love sunglasses.

I can't help it. They're a fashion statement and they protect your eyes from the sun. What more could one want?

Latest addition:

Yes - I am currently into the big and the bling.

iPod

My iPod has finally died on me. Well, not died - but the battery lasts a grand total of 20 minutes.

I'm considering getting a Nano this time rather than the classic one - after all, one can only listen to so many songs on one trip to anywhere.

Thing is - I don't know what to engrave or which color.

Hmmm hmm hmmm.....

No Longer Am I Todless

I went to David Jones and fell in love with this bag. Had to have it.

Tod's Bensonville

Sorry the photos are bad. I somehow just couldn't manage to do better.

Sigh...happy!

Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Red Agenda

After years of yearning, I finally bought what I have been waiting for - the Epi leather agenda in red.

It was met with disapproving remarks.

"So, you consider that one of your achievements now?"

"Don't you ever feel that your money could be so much better spent elsewhere?"

It still hurts me even though it has happened to me every time I purchase another one of my penchants. However, I can only say that I do not have to justify what I do.

That's just one of the things that Dental Girl does.

Back With A Vengeance

I haven't really been into shopping lately, mainly because of my 2 month full on obsession with knitting. For a while, that monster lay dormant, waiting for the right time to rear its ugly head.

Now that I'm supposedly studying for an oral med test tomorrow, I've been browsing around and have fallen in love all over again. Items I'm currently lusting over include:

1. Hermes Scarves - I don't know why but I just really want them. They look so good they're almost works of art. I don't care if it's a little grandmotherly to wear scarves - they are gorgeous.

2. Louis Vuitton Agendas - Time and again I've been contemplating if I should get one of them - the extreme price being my only deterrent. Also the question of functionality - would I really use it? But once again I have the desire to own one of these.

Siiiggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh.

Up Clothes

My mandarin is atrocious.

I remember going into a fish shop because of my unquenchable desire to get a bowl of fish to put into my room. At that point in time, it was just the thing to complete my room.

I ended up pointing out everything that I wanted because I didn't know what aquariums, guppies, seaweed, pebbles and fish food were called in mandarin.

Anyway, after shopping in my hometown for a couple of weeks I learnt the basics. Now I know what phone charms, tops, skirts, dresses and pants are called.

That's when I learnt that tops are called "shang yi" (if this is absolutely shocking mandarin spelling please forgive me) which literally translated means up clothes.

I went up clothes shopping and came home with these:

Top from some random shop that was closing down - I love it!

Pilgrim - Threw away the tag so I don't remember what it's called. Got it for AUD21, down from AUD150. I love sales!!

Lolita - Saw this top before sale and was too fat at that time to buy it. Finally bought it this time, with a 30% discount! Loved it so much I bought the pink version of it as well.

Must. Stop. Spending.

ABC

Amazing Burberry Cashmere.

My friend called me up a couple of days ago informing me that my precious cashmere cargo had arrived along with her.

I walked down to her apartment the very next day and got these:

I got lost twice along the way. Firstly, I couldn't find the 'Plumber' which apparently is very obvious (yes, it was. I was just too blind to see the sign). Then when I stood right at her doorstep I looked everywhere but the very obvious door and wondered where it was.

Anyway, I'm really happy with the scarves. Only thing is that the white one is so perfectly white that I'm scared to use it.

I guess it doesn't help that my previous Burberry scarf led a very short life with me.

Courage, Dental Girl, courage!!

Sheepskin

I've concluded that I'm not really a friend of animals.

I mean, let's face it. I love cashmere, angora and any form of luxury fibre. I love luxury leather goods, particularly ostrich leather. And I love sheepskin rugs.

Bought this for my room. Been spending my time digging my toes into its warm fuzzy fluffiness.

Did I mention I love eating meat as well?

Fouetté, Pas de Chat, Pirouette

Went shopping with no intention of buying any shoes and came home with these:

Doesn't the second one look ridiculously ballet?

I adore them.

They're joining the big shoe family schooled, fed and mothered by Dental Girl.

Cheap Thrills

Went shopping yesterday evening to get rid of dentistry blues.

Sales are on in Melbourne to get rid of winter stock and although I was only out for 2 hours I managed to get 2 really good deals. Not bad.

Pilgrim Osaka Obi Dress

I tried it on and fell in love with it. Flipped the tag over. AUD149.95 down to AUD39.95!!! I clutched hold of the dress harder and went to the counter to pay when the salesperson informed me there was an additional 30% discount on top of the discounted price. So I got the dress for ~AUD28! Happiness...

I took the photo sitting down because my bed is too near to the mirror in my room to stand. I'm so happy I bought those red shoes during the holidays - now I have a dress to match it.

Seduce Buoy Blue

Went to Seduce and didn't really see anything I liked. Then I saw a girl trying on this top that I really liked. The photo doesn't do it justice because I only took a front shot. The back is similar but plunges lower and the overall effect is really nice (that's my opinion anyway). It was on 70% sale so I paid like... AUD30+ for something that was AUD110!

I love sales. Must shop more.

Pomme D'Amour

I want this bag in this color so much I don't even know how to express the desire.

So it's striking - that's the point!

Problem is, I'm broke.

*sob*

Shopping Destiny

I believe in destiny - especially in the shopping arena.

How else can a pair of shoes in my exact size be at 60% sale waiting for me, even though I didn't buy it a week ago because I thought it pinched my feet a little?

Color doesn't show up too well here. Everything in my room is blue - can't do anything about that.

Got it for RM20 (~AUD 7-8).

If this isn't destiny, I don't know what is.

Cashmere Goodness

I still miss my first Burberry scarf that I ever owned.

Till this day I do not know if I lost it out of my carelessness or to my psycho housemate.

I guess I will never know.

However, I'm fortunate enough to have a friend in the US who was kind enough to buy these for me.

Burberry cashmere scarves in white and burgundy. They were on a whopping 60% sale. I couldn't resist.

Can't wait to get them when I go back to Australia.

I am comforted.

Troubled Mind 2

Just had a good crying fit in my room for a good hour. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just give up trying to pretend everything is alright and just do what is appropriate - eat chocolates and go into depression.

Parents naturally thought I was crazy.

It's in times like these that self pity takes over. Why can't I be more like other normal human beings whose biggest worry in the world is what color to wear for the next day.

Of course, I know better than that. Someone out there who is homeless and starving would gladly trade their place with mine anytime.

It's not that I'm ungrateful. It's just that sometimes things just mount up until I can't take it anymore.

2 days ago, I told my friend my life is near perfect. He admonished me.

Him: I get nervous when people say that. It's like inviting something bad to come happen to show you your life sucks.
Me: Nah...how bad can life be anymore? Isn't an accident, a dissapointing friend, a controlling psycho and a kleptomanic housemate enough for 4 years of my life? Isn't that enough misfortune for a lifetime?!
Him: Just don't get too happy.

I guess what he said is true.

NO.

I refuse to go down the valley of self pity. I shall instead go to the mountains and search for cashmere sweaters, diamonds and leather luxury goods.

Excuse me while I go drown my sorrows.

Troubled Mind

Whenever I start slipping into the valley of self pity and depression, I try to keep myself occupied with things to do. Therefore I've been surfing around for more bags to add to my collection. Bear with me.

Louis Vuitton Multicolore Shirley - I've been thinking about buying this for ages but I live in mortal fear that one day the multicolored print will just be deemed as out of fashion and I'll be stuck with a very expensive useless bag.

Luella Suzi Tote - Yummy.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Roxbury Drive - I love this so much. But not in this color - I think white is the nicest in this collection.

Chanel 2.55 - in white ostrich skin. Did I ever mention ostrich skin was my favourite exotic leather? This is by far the most expensive bag on this list. Sigh...

I need a new hobby.
