Twenty Three

Parents are coming over from Malaysia for my graduation (please God, please don't let them come for nothing) and so my mom was asking if I needed anything in terms of face care.

Mom: How much more face moisturizer do you have?
Me: Oh, heaps. Don't bother bringing any more.

Got a lecture about how me being 23 is not the same as an irresponsible 16 year old who can just do nothing and have young and glowing skin. No no - good skin comes at a price.

Traumatised me back into my 5 step face care plan. Not sure how long it's going to last. We will see.

Wishlist

Haven't been making many wishlists lately. However, these are a few things that would serve me well.

1. A new computer - No offense to my current iBook G3 (Yes, 3!!! To illustrate how old it is!!) but I don't think it can physically keep up with the things I want to do. This blog is devoid of pictures because to upload photos and edit them is just too much for this computer to handle. Am looking forward to getting a new one.

2. Luggage - A nice overnight sort of bag thingie would be good for my trips back to Melbourne next year. Well, that's what I think I would be doing anyway. Who knows? I might love country life so much I might not want to leave.

3. A Cavalier Spaniel - Still undecided if I should make that 10 year commitment and get a dog. I guess it's because I'm not sure what's going to happen in the next 10 years. Been thinking a lot about this.

4. Flatware - Am currently eating with forks and spoons that are not firmly attached to their handles. It is not a pleasant experience to be eating cereal halfway and then realizing your spoon has fallen into the milk.

5. Tableware

All very expensive things. Have to prioritize wisely.

What I Have to Achieve In The Next Few Months

1. Get a Victorian driving license.

2. Graduate.

3. Decide where I want to go and get a job there.

4. Apply for PR.

5. Find myself.

It scares me that in 2 months my exams will be over - mainly because I haven't actually really started studying.

It scares me that my life is unmapped - everything is uncertain - I don't know where I'm going, what I'm going to do and who I'm going to be with.

It scares me that every decision I make now is going to have a lasting impact in my life. Then again, isn't every decision that way?

Perplexed.

Simple Pleasures

1. Vitasoy Lush Vanilla Soy Milk - I gave it a rave review 2 years ago, and I'll give it a rave review again! I love it so much it's one of the few caloried drinks I consume.

2. Comfortable shoes - I've been wearing the same pair of shoes since the beginning of the year about 95% of the time because they're comfortable and clinic acceptable. The other 5% of the time I choose vanity over comfort.

3. Pen and paper - I have a notebook specifically for writing down irrational and crazy thoughts while I ponder over things. Very helpful. Once things are down on paper one tends to look at things a little bit more objectively.

4. Questionable Content - Favourite web comic. Ever.

5. Strategic Light Switch Position - Once I'm in bed I absolutely detest having to get up to switch off the light when I finally want to go to sleep. Worked my way around it by moving my bed near a plug point and using a bedside lamp to read at night. Now I just roll over and flick the lights off. Bliss.

Craft Art

I have a whole heap of raw materials for crafts but unfortunately, no ideas.

I bought quite a bit of felt as well as some undecorated mini oval boxes. Have absolutely no idea what to do with it.

Let's not talk about the mountain of yarn sitting under my desk as well.

And the spools of ribbon.

And any number of buttons and beads.

I need inspiration!

I Hate...

1. The rubber dam punchers in the clinic. It took me 15 minutes and 10 sheets of rubber dam to punch 3 stupid holes in the stupid dam to put it onto the patient.

2. How all the instruments are all over the place. And when the stupid drawers do not have polishing strips/burs/plastic sleeves/articulating paper etc etc etc!!

3. There's no nurse to help you do anything, leading to you having to take off your gloves 20 times in 1 session and run around the whole place just to find the prescription sheet. And learn to suction and drill and fill and everything with 2 hands.

4. Setting up the radiograph booth.

5. Patients who complain that the session is long and that everything is too slow - like I'm doing it on purpose.

It's A Small World... 2

I went out for a friend's surprise birthday party last weekend.

Friends brought friends who brought their friends.

Ended up talking to one of the said friend's friend's friend.

Him: So let me guess, you're...Singaporean.
Me: Nope.
Him: Fine...you're from Hong Kong.
Me: Nope.
Him: Argh! I don't know - tell me.
Me: I'm Malaysian.
Him: Hey, me too. I still have family back there.
Me: Which part.
Him: Johor.
Me: Hey, me too!! Which part of Johor?
Him: Batu Pahat.
Me: ...omg!!!!!! Me TOO!!!!!!!!

So turns out he is my secondary school friend's cousin.

This is the second time I've met cousins of people I know from back home.

Stressed

Went to see what the report about me all about.

Turns out the nurse blamed me for single handedly creating disasters in the cleanup hold. Because of course, all the instruments in there was used by me.

Perio exam tomorrow. Instead of studying, been looking through my patient file obsessively, trying to logicize my not so ideal treatment plans and outcomes.

Can't wait for it to be over.

5 slices of bread with peanut butter = 1000 calories
3 small mandarins = 200 calories
1 small bunch of grapes = 100 calories
1 bowl of cereal with milk = 200 calories
2-3 cups of dry cereal, eaten straight out of the box = 300 calories
2 scoops of ice cream = 200 calories
1 pack of KFC fries = 250 calories
Total = 2250 calories

Must. Stop. Eating. But can't seem to stop! In times of stress, it's the only thing I know how to do.

How To Slow Down The Process Of Aging

Read this article on Yahoo!. Shall attempt to follow it.

1. Change your perception of time. Don't be in a hurry. Check.

2. Get restful sleep. Double check. Currently averaging at 10 hours a day.

3. Eat fresh, nutritious food. I do eat 2 mandarins a day now...and yoghurt. Are Cheezels 'nutritious'? They have some form of cheese, don't they?

4. Take at least two multivitamins with minerals every day. The only vitamins I eat are chewable vitamin C tablets because they taste so good - it's almost like candy.

5. Practice a mind body technique such as yoga or tai chi. Something to work on.

6. Exercise regularly. The only exercise I do is scaling the stairs in the dental hospital.

7. Don't put toxins in your life, including toxic food, toxic emotions, toxic relationships, and avoid toxic environments or toxic relationships. Completely agree with this one. Probably the most important next to diet.

8. Have a flexible attitude to minor hassles. You mean when I have to run around the entire clinic trying to find one measly cartridge of LA? *through clenched teeth*

9. Look at so-called problems as opportunities.

10. Nurture loving relationships. This is where a dog would be handy.

11. Always have an attitude of curiosity, learning, and wonder and spend time with children. Not sure if children would make me feel better or worse.

Lots to work on.
